Two-Dimensional Mineral Security
Supply security and mineral poverty, measured together.
Food, water and energy security are institutional missions with measurable targets; mineral security is not yet either. CMPG treats mineral security as a two-dimensional problem: securing supply chains for economies while securing equitable development for the people and places that host extraction. Measuring only the first dimension, as most national frameworks do, hides the cost at which supply is secured.
The research question
How can states secure mineral supply while securing equitable development from extraction, and what is lost when only one dimension is measured?
